Cleanliness is generally perceived as being associated with health; however an article in American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine shows that how you clean your house may have adverse affects on your health.

Summary

A study conducted by 15 colleagues at the Centre for Research in Environmental Epidemiology (CREAL) investigates the risk of new-onset asthma in relation to the use of common household cleaners. Although a number of studies have been performed that confirm the relationship between occupational asthmas in nurses and professional cleaners, this was the first study to explore the respiratory effects of nonprofessional home cleaning. This study concludes that frequent use of common household cleaning sprays may be an important risk factor in adult asthma.
